PROBATE JUDGE

The Probate Judge is an elected official that serves a six year term. He/she is the chief election officer of the county. He/she is the custodian of all County Funds, Buildings, and Inventories. Probate Judges, like other officials, are faced with the responsibility of implementing financial management and accounting controls over money collected for the county.

All funds collected by the Probate Judge are required to be dispersed to the designated agencies each month. The Probate Judge is audited by the State of Alabama’s Department of Examiners on a yearly basis. He/she is accountable for all funds collected. He/she must abide by all laws of the State of Alabama and the Ethics Commission pertaining to all functions in his/her office.
